Intimate Discipleship - (Men)

In his book Tender Warrior, author Stu Webber defines true manhood from God's perspective as sitting on a foundational backdrop of 4 pillars.

King, Warrior, Mentor, and Friend.

He states that these 4 undergirding life rhythms flow through the veins of every male child that act like a 4 part-cadence to which every man must march if he chooses to be a complete man. They are always intermingled, never exclusive. Always blending perfectly with one another that they reflect the light of the One in whose image they are made.

He goes on to say, that to the degree, these 4 pillars are balanced, the image is clear, and the man, along with those around him, flourish. To the degree they are abased and abused, the image is distorted, the man withers, and those around him experience deep levels of pain. He defines these as the 4 unshakable pillars of masculinity.

Under the rule of a King, he is a provisionary. He looks ahead, he watches over, and he provides order, mercy, and justice. He is authority and a leader. As a king, he never abuses his authority or wields it as a weapon to control, manipulate, or harm others out of insecurity or selfish gain.
Under the rule of the Warrior, he is a protector. He shields, defends, stands between, and guards his family. His role is to breakdown satanic attacks and strongholds that come against his family to destroy relationships with his marriage, children, and friends.
